That's a wrap

My name is Daya Raman. I come from a town so small that locating it on a map would be akin to finding a needle in a haystack. I am the only child and appear to some as a spitting image of my father. Life, thus far, has been no walk in the park especially since no one in my family has been born with a silver spoon in their mouth. Despite being the lone child, I am not a spoiled brat and am down to earth. I enjoy being a bookworm, traveling around the world, visiting museums and observing things for myself for a picture is worth a thousand words.

I took the plunge to be a Biology major at UCSD. Since that fateful day, I have felt part of a grand Darwinian experiment of “survival of the fittest”. Competition in and for classes can get pretty cut- throat in this dog-eat-dog world. To get a leg up over the competition and going against the grain, I am also an Art history minor. Come hell or high water, I hope to one day become a physician - not because they make money hand over fist but to help people.

Through college, I tried my hand at various things for I believe that nothing ventured is nothing gained. My most memorable experience was to study abroad in Rome where I veni, vidi, vici. In Rome, I lived as the Romans do, learned Italian and ate my heart out. I was able to travel throughout Europe going to places where no man or woman has set foot on. On my return, as luck would have it, I was able to get a job. Getting a job really taught me that time is money. Four years later, I can see light at the end of the tunnel and am ready to move on. I hope to accomplish all my dreams because there is really no time like the present.

And that’s it in a nutshell!
